Carnations: The underdog.

Admit it.  Carnations are flowers that 99% of the population associate under category: fugly.  When your 12th birthday rolled around and your middle school sweetheart handed you a dozen red carnations, you were smitten.  These days, they're under loved and under appreciated.

I'm giving them another chance.  Not only are they cheaper than most flowers in the grocery store, but they last three times as long AND look great in mason jars.  I popped a few on our Thanksgiving table and I'm digging them.  See, even the slightly under-loved of the underdogs will reign supreme in this household.

Thank you. Thank you.

I'm thankful for waking up each morning and smelling the crisp, city air.  I'm thankful for my cozy, beautiful home in San Francisco with a jungle for a backyard.  I'm thankful for my sweet boyfriend who does three dozen thoughtful things for me a day, even if it's making christmas ornaments with me at 10pm when he really doesn't want to.  I'm thankful for my family, even though we all drive each other completely nuts.  I am thankful for my little dog Max, who makes any seeming problem, all better again.  I am thankful for Papalote, for you make the best soy chorizo tacos.  I'm thankful for Nicole, my best friend and all the memories we have shared since we were kids.  I'm thankful for my friends, past and present, who have all contributed to my life in one way or another.  I am thankful for so many things.  If I missed you, I'm thankful for you, too.

Carpe Diem!  We're cooking a vegan feast for 5 and I'm making these bad boys; baked apple pie's in an APPLE.

Happy Thanksgiving!
